t could be several things that cause your computer to reboot on its own. Here's a few to check out....

1. It could be a virus. Do you have updated anti-virus software running on your computer? Do you notice anything unusual running on your PC?

2. Your PC could be overheating. Does your PC have adequate ventilation? Does it have very little dust on the inside? Is the Processor getting too warm?

3. It could be misconfigurations. Meaning your PC may be blue screening (without you seeing it). Windows XP is notorious for blue screening and rebooting right away before you even know what happened. Did you install something recently that could be uninstalled? Did you add a new hardware component that's not functioning properly?

Hope this helps out a little....

It is very possible, depending on what your seeing when the computer crashes - i.e. the blue screen of death or it just locks up (would have to know more to accurately diagnose the problem, like what O/S are you running how much RAM and such.) However a simply solution might be at hand. Find out what kind of video card or chip set you have on your motherboard or in your computer. Go to the website of that vendor and get the latest update for their driver. Also make sure the game/application you are running is within the parameters the computer can handle. Playing Doom on a Pentium II 333 MHz. would be like a snail in molases in January. Try the driver thing first, if that doesn't work your computer might be overheating. Does it sit in an enclosed space? Not enough air circulating around the back? Also try blowing the dust bunnies out of the old girl. You can pick up a can of compressed air at just about any store, like Walmart. If you are still experiencing problems after all that try to have it professionally serviced. You might have something very simple wrong that can be fixed in a flash or you might need to install a new video card. That would be my guess. Kinda hard to do that without seeing it. Also the last thing would be check for viruses on your machine. Are you running any type of protection? AVG, Norton, or McAfee are the best. Good luck to you in finding the problem.

Your motherboard could be burning up,Your cd drive is causing problems, Make sure all of your fans R running. Also a virus. I would first reinstall windows xp and check the fans. If the problem continues i then would check for a virus. If that does not work its probly your motherboard or video card. It is a good idea to reinstall windows xp once a year
