ive got an xbox 360, and i was wondering (especially for regular xbox games) what everyones experiences have been with buying used games? some of them are quite a bit cheaper than buying a new game, but you have no idea about scratches and quality. any help would be appreciated.

I used to buy new games all the time and spent more money than I needed at times. I find used games to be a good option for a gamer. My experience with used games has been positive. The more popular and newer the game the higher the price for the used games. The longer the game is out the lower the price. My personal experience has been that I have had limited scratches and if there was several scratches I asked for a different disc. The video games stores usually have some sort of return policy on used games usually 7 days. My thoguhts are that the games that are returned are the ones that the younger kids will beat and return them to get get another game. As far as quality, usually the used games will not affect the quality of the games unless you see several scratches and that is why you have the return policy. If you are a sport fan and do not mind playing the last years games, you will end up paying a whole lot less due to those games end up going from 50-60 dollars to about 2 to 10 dollars depending on the year. Overall, the used games are not bad as long as you look at what you are buying and if you are willing to wait you can get some good deals on some real good games. If it is something that I want I will go ahead and buy it new.

I have bought most of my games used. I always buy them from Gamestop. I have only had to return 3 games in the 5 years I have been buy games from them. They do have a return policy and if they don't have anymore copies of the game used, you can get another game that is the same price.

It depends on the game. Xbox and PS3 games are usually around 20$ while used Wii and DS games are around 15$. Pc games are worth around 30$ if there not like 7 years old(in wich case they would sell for about 2$). Do not sell your games at Gamestop, they will rip you off.

See if there are any used games policies at the store you're buying it from. I don't know what a xbox game looks like but you can physically examine the game before buying or I'm sure they make cleaning products.

I think it doesnt, because used video games might be cheaper , but their also have more scratches and less qulity , my brother is one of those people who plays X-box every day , and i tried to tell him to go buy cheap video games but everytime he told me that cheaper video games last 2 or 3 weaks because of the quality , so i think if you spent your money on new video games is better then wasting it on some cheap unrelieble used video games ;)

My advice is to buy from someone you know, someone local. Pawn shops are ok, but I'd lean toward chain places like Hastings or GameStop, where there are clearly posted standards for buybacks. Plus, they are more likely to give you a refund if it doesn't work than the eBayer.
That said, I've never had any problems with a game I'd bought secondhand.

Ask to see the game before you buy them, but when they buy the game they check for scratches

it's sometimes cheaper to buy used games, but not worth it if they are all scratched up,i would suggest going to game crazy in almost any hollywood video, they have a machine that cleans up any scratched up game,so yeah,it's worth buying used games at game crazy because they can clean any game....hope i helped.

i would do it. some places even have a policy where if you buy a game, and it doesnt work, then they will take it back, along with your money. check with the place first, but i have had good experiences with used games in the past.
