I think that it must be lonely. I personally have had a brief glimpse of "on top" and I was miserable. I didn't feel like anyone was really my friend or trustworthy. I felt isolated and threatened.
Of course I have also experienced "the bottom" and that was just as miserable. I felt like everyone was judging me. I felt trapped and alone. So I chose to maintain the happy medium.
I can't speak for everyone who has ever experienced success, just myself.

From my point of view down here at the base, I believe your status does not necessary become the deciding factor. You will probably be just as lonely or not, regardless of your present level of success.

I often wonder that too. If you have all the money and the house and the car and the vaction spot. You become the one everyone comes to to get help.
I would think it could get lonely

well, depends on what kind of person you are
it's bad if you are way up but trying to blending in w/ others
if you don't care about others then you can't be too lonely
coz "being" at the top is a great satisfaction...

"Up there" is all a state of mind. I guess you could say I am "up there", but in reality, there is always someone higher up than you, so you just never get cocky or complacent because there is always someone else out there on their rise to the top who won't hesitate to knock you off your king spot.

I think it would be. People will always be after you for what you have, and not for who you are. The adventure, though lies in getting to the top. I don't know if i would like staying there though.

It is not lonely at the top. It's just that the bottom is more crowded!

Ask Serpentor. He's the genetic amalgamation of histories greatest conquerers. If he's not at the top, who is?

Yes. Isolation is lonely, but it is the price one pays for success.
