If she is refusing solid foods, she is one smart baby! She is *not* ready for solids until she is at least 6 months old. It *won't* help her (solids have *fewer* calories than formula! and she can't digest them anyway), and it could harm her. It *probably* won't kill her or do permanent damage, but why risk it?!

My baby is 4 1/2 months old and is just starting to eat solids. I tried to start her on rice cereal, and she would just spit it out. I then tried oatmeal, same thing. 5 days ago, I made banana, and she seemed more interested in it. I tried it again the next day, and she was even more interested. Today is day 5 of me attempting to feed her solids twice a day. Tonight, she actually started sucking the food off the spoon! It was a pretty exciting moment. Just keep trying, she will eat when she is ready. My daughter has now eaten bananas and avocados! Here is a good website for making your own baby food. It's way easy to do and so much cheaper than buying baby food at the store!

This link shows the signs to look for to see if your baby is ready for solids. If she is having troubles, she may not be ready. Just make sure that she's getting enough milk. Remember too that milk is the main food source for the first year. Always give them breastmilk, or formula first until they've had enough, then top them up with solid food. God Bless

Try starting out with really runny rice cereal mixed with formula. over the next few days add a little more cereal to make it thicker. this should help her get used to swallowing solids a little bit better. You could also add say baby food fruit to it for some flavor and that could help too.

Don't make her. Try to mix some on it in a bottle or something and just ease her into it. I had to get a bottle that you put baby food in well it was for cereal same thing for my daughter when she started food. It worked fine try it. good luck

Try mixing the cereal so that it is really really soupy, give her some and she might not take to it the first time, but try it when she's not hungry so that she doesnt' get frustrated. But don't give cereal in a bottle...not good.
