Which is better, the front or back of a roller coaster. Like which goes faster or is better?

The answer for this question is going to vary for nearly every roller coaster out there.

The front will typically deliver a better ride experience in terms of visibility (unobstructed view) of the track and with regard to the sensation of the wind blowing into your face.

The back will often deliver more of the sensation of "air time" (negative g-forces). This is a result of the fact that the back car will pass over the apex faster than the front car since the train will begin its acceleration down the hill before the last car passes over the top. This is not always true as the front seat on some coasters may deliver more air time.

On many "out and back" wooden coasters and the steel mega-coasters (a.k.a. hyper-coaster, gigacoaster) most fans generally prefer the back seat.

For Inverted Coaster (Batman The Ride at Six Flags) the front row of seats is the most popular because it gives you an unobstructed view.

In the end, the answer really depends on the individual and the roller coaster.

The front may appear to be going faster, and the view is definitely impressive, but in truth, the back of the roller coaster is better. Because it is the back, it really gets whipped around turns and in loops. Ride in the front once for the view, and then head to the back row where the real rollercoaster enthusiasts will be. Honestly, on some rides, such as Superman at Six Flags, Great America, the difference between the front and the back is enough to make riding in the front row the worst way to ride.

It really depends on the rides(specifically the seats/straps). One time in Santa Cruz I went on the big white coaster(i forgot what it was called) in the front and it was great. Then I tried the back and thought I was going to fall out on all of the huge drops.

Before you choose a seat take a good look at the drops on the track and the straps on the seats. If the straps fell secure then any seat would be fun especially the front or back. In the front it's fun because you get tho see the track in front of you, while in the back seat you get the wonderful slingshot effect as the front of the coaster quickly accelerates down the slope making the back start the decline at a higher speed than the front.

Overall I like the front the most beacause I like to see the track in front of me and feel all of the wind in my face. Horray for ammuesment parks!

I prefer the front because it gives the best view especially on the suspended legs hanging roller-coasters, instead of having to look at the seat pillar when not in the front row. On wooden coasters, however, I think the very back is the best. Some riders do not like rougher and more rattling wooden coasters; however, I believe and still believe that wooden coasters are supposed to be rough.

Always the front, especially the steep roller coasters.

1. You see everything.
2. You feel the drop longer.

Front - Scared? The front is the place for you. You feel the stomach tickling experience even more.

Middle - The middle is OK, but it's kinda boring because you don't feel as much adrenaline in the back or front. This is for nervous/sick riders.

Back - This is the ultimate thrill drenching experience. You get the most fun and adrenaline you could possible have and you get bumped aroud a lot. My favourite. I recommend this place.

When deciding to ride the front or the back I look to the kind of ride it is. If it is a ride that is inverted or a stand up or one that just has large seets I perfer sitting in the front because part of the ride for me is being able to see. If it is your standard out and back or woody I like the back seets because you do expereience the whipping in turns and greater speeds that many have spoken of.

i respect curler coasters. I went to an leisure park with my sister on Thursday and rode curler coasters AAAALLL day! And took 4 gravols in the course of the day to steer away from vomitting because i grow to be so nauseous. Then when I wasn't nauseous anymore, i began up back lol. they are relaxing! highly even as they go the different way up! =D

The speed is the same, because at all times they remain joined together. And personally, I feel no difference in being at the front, middle or back.

you can get more air time in the very back of the roller coaster.
