I have a 1994 Honda Civic Coupe EX. Latley when I turn on the air it will either blow really cold, or blow air the same temp as outside. What could be the cause of that? Can you tell me how to fix it?Thanks so much for your help!!

I've also been told that my car doesn't use freon(sp?). It's some other system that came out in the 90's b/c of enviromental reasons. Is that true?

Thanks Pumper Tech! I wasn't sure what they called the new freon. Now I know :0) I've also heard that you can buy the stuff to re-charge it(comes in a kit or something) at Auto-Zone or places like that and that it's pretty cheap. Is that true?

I would guess your freon is low and needs to be recharged, but a car that old may need to be converted to the new freon, so seek help from someone who knows that stuff. What is there besides freon?

If it blows really cold then the freon and system are ok. It does use freon, not the old r-12 but the newer r134a type. It is possible that the air conditioning compressor if failing to engage part of the time. Possibilities include a faulty ac relay, ac switch, poor connections in the circuit or excess wear on the ac clutch or even a bad cycling switch.

go to a local car repair shop and see if they do AC recharges and see how much they would charge just to check and see why this is happening. They can do a test to see if you have any leaks, also look in your driver's manual and look for the fuses and check to make sure your fuses aren't blown ( the upside down U in the middle will be cracked in half if it is blown or the prongs that connect it to the fuse panel will be black and brown looking burnt). If all checks out, I would go and get an A/C recharge.

Use it all the time. Keep it running so there isn't a build up in the lines.
