Folks, they're called con-trails. Short for condensation trail. Seriously, wacko conspiracy theorists used to think the "gubment" was spraying something up there but considering all the people involved in fuel production and the mass quantities of jet fuel used each day it would simply not be possible for Uncle Sam to sneak a secret mind-erasing elixer into the fuel supplies of United Airlines. Besides, they already have the flouridated water supply thing going, why even bother with crop dusting from 30,000 feet?

For goodness sakes, when a jet engine burns fuel, it generates carbon dioxide and water vapor. When water vapor hits the atmosphere at high altitude, where it is FREAKIN' COLD, it turns into ice crystals, that appear as white contrails behind the jet.
There is no chemical spraying going on here, people. Get a grip!
