yes i would believe he would certainly do it again. there's no reason to believe they wouldn't even if they beg, cry, act innocent and that they've changed.
They must portray that for their prey's to fall for them...get out, move on, and don't look back..

It depends a LITTLE bit on the crime -- was it "date rape" (which sometimes is vague over who agreed to what), or was it child molestation, or was it flat-out rape?

How old was the perpetrator? Sometimes teenagers do stupid things out of curiosity or angst. On occassion, they'll regret their behavior and improve.

Still, I'd be hesitant to just assume an adult perpetrator of a sex crime will change.

Rape, for example, is an act of violence, not really just a "sex" crime. Usually there are deep-seated issues that are contributing to the desire to violate women and use them, and these issues aren't easily resolved.

Child molestation also springs from deep-seated issues. If someone is willing to exploit their authority, or cross a taboo boundary, or somehow twist reality into thinking that the child actually wanted sex and it was a mutual decision... well, that stuff doesn't change overnight, if at all.

Sexual attraction is hard to change, once it becomes rooted. It's not impossible for someone to learn and commit to appropriate ways of behaving with others, but the feelings and attractions often still persist. Even molesters trying to "go straight" will admit as much -- they actively avoid situations where they are likely to feel tempted to molest a child.

To answer your question directly, I would say, "No, he is probably not a one-time offender, and probably has deep-seated issues to work through, and a long haul ahead of him."

Men (and women) who sexually assualt are always likely to do it again. They've probably have done it before too. People like that don't just snap out of it. It's a psychological thing and if they do it, it might've happened to them.

There was probably incidents of abuse prior to the sexual assault... or rather actions, attitudes, beliefs he held prior to the assault that made it okay in his mind to sexually assault someone. The chances that he will offend again are very, very, very high.

Stay away and don't let anyone you care about be around them at all even if it's family... find a way out of harms way.

If you can see the official records of his court case, this would tell you. He could be just guilty of making a bad decision or the worst thing ever! This is a very hard question, for example the priests that were found to be molesting children were very respected so who can tell.

reaserch has shown that pedophiles are unlikely to change their behavior in spite of treatment. the are really sick pups, and will re-offend. just look at the latest guy who is in the news right now. he got out of prison early, and killed that girl within a week of his release. answer your question?
