I've met quite a few people I first met on the internet. I do have to qualify that by saying that I'm an older male and that I met these people through playing a word game which only appeals to a certain kind of people.

I find that I seem to be pretty good at judging who is down-to earth honest and who to be wary of. I don't know how I might go about teaching that skill (or gift or whatever) to anyone else.

I also have some VERY good friends in the States who I shall have no qualms whatsoever about meeting.

Ive met people off of the Internet and I havnt had any issues with it so far. I think its important to get to know the other person pretty well before you actually meet them - exchange emails for a period of time, talk on the phone, become intimate (if its that type of relationship) before meeting, because the more sides of that person you see, the better you will be about making a judgement call on their true personality.

I think it is a bad idea to meet people online and then meet them IRL very quickly (inside a week.)

Any thing is possible. My wife and I did not meet in a traditional way. We have been together for almost 6 years. Over the computer is a good way to get to know some one for who they are and not for what they look like. When and if you meet this person in real life, make sure you take a friend along and at a public place just in case.

I have in the past. What I did was asked the person I was meeting to invite some of his friends, and I would invite a bunch of my friends. We would all meet as a large group someplace public.

I never had a problem by doing this, but always use your best judgement. Don't meet someone you've only just talked to online or have only spoken with for a week.

Do you mean dating with a web-page?

This is a new communication way... In the past the only way to meet someone was in the school or in the streets, was that better or safety than this, I don´t think so....

This is more efficient and yes you will never know who´s behind the keyboard till you meet, that makes it even more fun... I think...

I have met some really wonderful people on the internet. I have great friends from Greece, Russia, Egypt and the U.S. It would be terrific to be able to meet them in person.
But you got to be smart, when you chat read carefully and always go with your heart - it will tell you when to disconnect that person and ignore him or her in the future. Be friends and learn about them.....yes there are a lot of horrible people out there but there are also a lot more wonderful people who really are worth getting to know.
Trust your instints and you'll hardly ever go wrong.

It is a good idea if you have chatted for a long while (more than a year) and meet in a crowded place in the middle of the day and you are legaly adult.

It is not wise if you have only chatted for a short time, meet in a uncrowded place in the evening and are underaged.

If you're an adult, and you've really gotten to know each other, I don't see anything wrong with meeting in person. I've done this, in fact.

Kids should not. There are too many sexual predators out there posing as kids who want to meet other kids.

"Do "I" think that it is wise"? No, because if you are gullible enough to go through with this and meet them in person where they supposedly tell you, they could bring a gun, or be a pedophile, or try to rape you, so if you like crap like that, then go ahead, but I NEVER would, no matter how trustworthy they are and even if they may be telling the truth.

If your that stupid then u'd see the person. But if you're smart you will stay put. You never know what they will do to you.. they can take you away and rape and kill you. so I dont think its a smart idea to meet someone off the internet.
