Clinton was the most embarrassing president; Bush Jr. has an approval rating around 40%, but they are both way ahead of the most hated president.

Lincoln was the most hated. Most of the south didn't even have his name on the ticket when he was elected the first time. His own party was unhappy with him for being "soft" on the confederate rebels. He won reelection by a very close margin. So, the southern half the country hated him; almost half of the north voted against him; and, nearly half his party disagreed with him. That gives him an approval rating of about 13%.

Obviously you are not very politically minded with such a media driven memory. Read some history books there were 42 other men before that had their own failings, e.g FDR with his socialization of the country, JFK with his mob ties,Grant & Harding with teir scandal plaged administrations, Jackson with the creation of the soils system just to name a few. Yet this country survived. You will only go downstream if you follow the mainstream media.

Ulysses S Grant. He took more land from the Native Americans than any other President to make National Forest, such as Yellow Stone and the Red Wood Forest. All of these places were originally inhibited by Native Americans.

Either Ronald the Rea-Gun or 007: Richard Nixon. One was a spy, obviously Watergate comes to mind, and yet him, but not the others (Halderman, Erlichman, Liddy, Hunt, Mitchell, Dean, escaped time in prison. The other ruined our country, with cutting programs to help those in poverty get out and the Iran-Contra Affair, not to mention the S and L scandal. Yep, one of them.

Clinton

Say what you will about Bush. At least he wasn't a rapist. Also, he never gave up state secrets to the chinese in return for campaign contributions. Come to think about it, he never had anyone murdered to cover up his many crimes.

The least popular was probably Harding, although I don't think people were that pre-disposed to be hateful of presidents back then.

Probably Hoover. When the Great Depression hit, he did very little for the people.
