Whlie I love MySpace and all of the MySpace clones, and I am a promoter of free speech (card carrying liberal my friends), I am perhaps reading into your question that you may not be aged 18 or older.
I believe that the age restriction for MySpace indicates that you must be at least 18 to be on the site.
Thus, if you do not fit the age requirement, I cannot recommend that you request of your parents the ability to be on the site.
If I'm wrong about that, or if there is some sort of condition that says that you can be on the site underage with a parents permission, then try the following.
Allow them to see and read everything that you post on your page and on your friends pages. Allow them to be present whenever you are on MySpace so that they can see that you are a responsible person and that nothing you are doing is unsafe.
Listen to their sermons about the dangers of predators and unruly people and take it to heart.
I hope that this helps.

You have to be AT LEAST 14 years old to be on myspace, so if you are 14, then your parents shouldn't be so anal about it. If they're good parents and taught you right from wrong, then they shouldn't have any problems. Plus, there's so much software out there now designed to help parents monitor what their kids are doing on the Net. Ask your parents to log onto myspace, and show them that other kids your age are on it. And remind them that the "real world" is just as bad as the Internet(sometimes worse). If they still say no. Well, I'm sorry, but you should always obey your parents---they gave you Life.

I have seen a lot of articles about MYSPACE, and they aren't very good.I have a 16 year-old daughter and I have explained to her why it is not a good site, but in the end she will do what she wants. A parent can give good guide lines, but teenagers can always find a way to get to the sites they want. As parents we just have to trust that they will make wise discisions.

myspace.com is nothing more than a blogging space. It certainly gets alot of attention. I have a space on there and well...couldn't see what the hype was all about. I have had my space blog on there for almost a year now and I can tell you honestly it's a no big deal.
Now of course you go on myspace with a screen name that is well like yours you might get some perver haunting you and this is what your parents are concerned for!

You can make your myspace private, as to where only your friends (which you have to accept) can view it. You can also find codes on here to limit the info you give out. Tell them you will be discrete about you personal info. Good Luck !!

Show them that you are mature by being responsible. How about letting them have your password and sign on so they can occasionally monitor what is happening on your site. That way they can protect you by making sure know one is being inappropriate. If they don't agree, don't be angry at your parents...they love you!

Try and reassure them that you won't do anything on there (like correspond with strangers) that would get you into trouble. Tell them you'll just be communicating with friends and people you know.
