how do you get hot water back on?

it depends whats wrong. is the heater off? pilot not lit? power to it off? setting on it too low? is all the hot water used up and just not long enough to heat back up? water turned off? if the start up procedure doesnt work. ....thermucouple may be bad... or the gas sending unit maybe bad. call a tech

Sounds like your pilot light is either off (if gas flame) or there's a bad electrical connection.

look for the tap thats got a red dot on top turn this anti clockwise hey presto
