Could you possibly be thinking of scaring? Like a crystal ball, if you fill a black bowl with water, & put yourself into a meditation state, you can see visions in the bowl.

I would really like to know what you asking with this question, because I don't know if your are talking about Final Fantasy games where they have a monster in them that you can fight that is really hard or something else.
