Ipods, and Mp3 players are the same thing, beuacse an Ipod is an mp3 player, but since everybody loves Ipods people think that they are the only mp3 players but they arent. But you should get a Creative Zen Microphoto 4gb beuacse its wayyy better than the ipod, and its not overpriced.

Ipod and Apple have done so much advertising that people think everything is an Ipod. Mp3 means MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3. This is an audio format. An mp3 player can play mp3 files and other audio formats digitally. An Ipod can only play 1 format of music. Ipods are only serviced to download music from Itunes. They store music on flash memory or small hard drives. An Ipod IS an mp3 player. Ipod is the brand name produced by the Apple Corporation. An mp3 player is a general term. I don't recommended Ipods becuase they are more expensive with less features. Apple Ipod=Mp3 player

Okay... IPod, I consider to be an MP3 player. Technically, it isn't, because the format isn't MP3, it's some other specialized format, that you have to convert, probably the cheapest way of which would be by using third party software. I don't like IPods because of this, it's simply much easier to get an MP3, I'd suggest the Creative ZEN Vision: M, which is the exact same size, except for depth as an IPod. Also, the screen is much better, and it has radio, and radio recording, so you can record right off the radio! Not to mention the battery life, it's about the same for audio, and twice as much for video, which I think it excels in, being that it supports DiVx.

An ipod is basically the same as an mp3 player except that the music files it plays aren't mp3. Slight contradiction i know but it makes sense.

There is probably a similar devicde to the itrip for mp3. I have an ipod and its great but it depends on what your looking for in a personal music player. There are thousands of mp3 players on the market which may be more suitable.

they're basically the same in the sense that they both play compressed song files, but mp3 players often play mp3's(duh) and some wav files, the ipod on the other hand play aac,mp3 and wav(i think) if you want to watch video, then get the ipod video, i got the 30G and it is ok. except for some features im sure apple will be adding to future upgrades like blutooth connectivity and a bigger screen.

I am all about the IPOD, because you can get the Itrip and play it in your car radio. I am not sure that you can do that with an MP3 player.
