It looks like there's about 16% of the world online. What happens when the other 84% join in? Will cancer be cured? Will wars end? Will global warming stop? Or will it just be really easy to find a good burrito in Botswana?

Just wondering.

If war or cancer could be 'solved' by quicker and more universal communication, then so-be-it.

But since this is not the case, the internet is just a tool, like the telephone or TV. For 'effective' communication or collaboration, you need 'trust', and confidence, which the internet does not provide between two separate parties, in two different countries, cultures and languages.

But you will be able to watch "I love Lucy" at 4:37am, or have the computer 'learn' who you are and whisper 'sweet-nothings' in your ear, -custom made for you.

none of the above. It will just mean that the entire world has nothing better to do than look at a computer screen.
