You stuck up for yourself, now maybe you'll be left alone. Most people pick on people that they think are too much of a wimp to do anything...bullies are really cowards; they don't pick on the tough guys.
So anyways, don't sweat it. If you get punished so what..at least you know you will not be seen as a wimp anymore. However, don't make a habit of it...don't become a bully yourself.

My 14 year old son has had trouble with bullies all his life. While he is not the type to fight back, some of the kids we've encountered were the type who would understand nothing short of a punch in the face. We've tried talking to parents, getting the school involved, etc. Nothing worked until we switched schools for our son. Now he's in a good school and any bullies are dealt with by the school. However, I still believe that some kids (and adults) can't understand anything except a good kick in the butt. If you do get in trouble over it, make sure that the adults understand how much this kid was bothering you, especially if it's been constant. And if bullying ever happens to you again, talk to your folks. While my son didn't get the help he needed at first, by talking to us and telling us what was happening, we were able to do something for him. Not every situation is the same, but I'm sure your folks will be able to help you with this. Please tell them what happend before they find out from someone else. I appreciate it when my kids fess up.

the kid is a bully, you could have handled the situation differently, but punching him might actually put a stop to his mistreatmment of you. if you get detention you'll live through it - so what. tell the principal what you told us. I think you di Ok with what you did - self defense, in a way. No, you are not as bad as he is because you don't usually act that way with others on the bus or elsewhere - right?

You shouldn't have punched him, you should have just dissed the crap out of him, but you'd still be as bad as he is. But if he put gum in my hair, i'd want revenge , so I don't blame you for punching him, I probably would have done something similar to that if I were in your shoes. But after all, two wrongs don't make a right, but revenge sure makes you feel good... at least until you get in trouble.

Violence begets violence. I think you KNOW the answer to your own question, no, you didn't do the 'right' thing. Punching someone for being mean to you...is mean! I would go to a trusted teacher, vice principal or coach, and tell them what happened before it gets reported. You should also tell your parents. The truth will set you free!

NO YOUR NOT BAD!! Growing up my father always told me never make the first punch but if someone is bothering you and you tell an adult and nothing gets done to handle it yourself. Maybe this jerk will think twice about messing with you next time. You might get detention but if you do he will too! Good for you, if you dont stick up for yourself who will?

Sometimes getting back at someone for mistreating you feels good, but for how long? He put gum in your hair so you hit him. I want you to think about this , what did it solve??? It felt good to you for the moment but chances are he will do it again. i guess I don't really have an answer but I do have a question that may help you find your answer.

No you arent as bad as he is. you just wanted to punish him yourself for what he does to you. It's just human nature to want revenge. you could have handled it better. next time something happens like this tell the principle before you do something to the kid. If you dont want to seem like a snitch then ask a friend to tip off the principle.

I don't blame you for doing what you did. You were tired of the abuse he was giving to you, and well you stood up for yourself and that was great. All you would have to do is tell the truth as to what happened and then I'm sure things should be alright from there.

In the Bible God says if your enemy slaps one cheak offer him the other, but he probably deserved it. Just tell your principle it was self defence.
