During pregnancy the length of the navel piercing will stretch and flatten, but the gauge (or thickness) will not stretch.
Some women with healed piercings have successfully worn jewellery throughout their pregnancies. In other cases the ridge of the navel expands and flattens so much as to make the jewellery uncomfortable.
PTFE or Bioplast jewellery can be more comfortable than metal because it is softer and more flexible.
After delivery the navel will return to its original shape but the skin may be loose and in some cases the piercing may sag.
If the piercing is still healing it is unlikely that the piercing can be maintained as the stomach enlarges the pressure could easily cause the piercing to reject. Infection must be avoided as a serious infection could travel to the interior of the abdomen and possibly affect the pregnancy or the baby. In the interest of maintaining good health and reducing risks that could affect your pregnancy, it is very important to wear the correct jewellery and ensure that the piercing is regularly cleaned. Navel wash is a product which can be purchased from JoBananas and is suitable for daily cleaning. Please click here.
Women who have had children usually do not have a risk of the piercing migrating or rejecting because the skin has been stretched.

My belly button never puffed out like SOME womens belly buttons due @ the end of pregnancy. If you already have a shallow button it will get flat or puff out in that case I would NOT keep it pirced. Also pretty much no matter what you do you may get streach marks and may show off your belly A LOT less after giving birth, so think about if you WANT a belly ring while having streach marks "some women don't mind" great 4 them. I have few streach marks still won't wear anything that shows my belly. You can always keep it in untill you notice it is not comfortable anymore.

i asked the same question about a week ago and most of my answers were from people who have actually had one. Theres a web site you can go to but and im not sure of the name of the site but you can do a search for it its like pregnancypiercings.com and there is a belly ring made especially long and very flexible for pregnant women you should check it out im considering going there. They say in the last trimester be really careful to not let you skin tear around the hole

I didn't take mine out till I was 6 months along. Then since my belly was stretched out, the hole stayed open so I put it back in afterwards. I know thats an expensive peircing so it would suck to have to get it done all over again.
