"An Inconvient Truth" is a movie where former Vice President Al Gore explains why the world must take steps to counter Global Warming. Another documentary directed by Chris Paine called "Who Killed the Electric Car?" (coming to theatres June 30) also explains the issue of Global warming and may point out how Gore's withdrawl from politics allowed the Bush Adminstration, Big Oil, Big Auto, and the status quo to discard policies such as the Clinton Adminstration's Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV) in favor of gas guzzling SUVs. My question is, if Al Gore is so concerned about the environment, why did he quit supporting campaigns to make sure that the Bush Adminstration upheld environmental policies such as PNGV? Secondly, where are our electric cars? Finally the big question: Why can we not find ANY parts to build our own electric generators and electric motors not even for a simple high school science experiment?

OK Details time. (Time to weed out all your knuckleheads who have made the Yahoo! News Message Board such an aweful place and all you other knuckleheads who get their politics from Bill O'Riely and Al Franken.)
Yes, I know all about the supreme court decision in 2000. STFU about that. My point is that since then, Gore has not done something like become part of the EPA or DOE or something. He wants the government to do something yet he has not sought to join any other government agency were he can be of influence.
Secondly, by electric cars I mean 100% electric. Not hybrid. Also to the guy who pointed out the obvious fact that batteries make waste, it all depends on electrochemistry. There are other alternatives aside from Lead, NiCd, and Li-ion. A little simple chemistry goes a long way.
Finally, do any of you people know who Nikola Tesla is? This technology has bee suppressed for generations but for no reason? Why is that?

GM did have an EV, and toyota had a couple of EVs in california. GM went and crushed all the EV1s, and toyota quit making their EVs. apparently toyota is looking at making a plug-in option for the prius to use it as an electric vehicle in the future. however, there are plenty of EVs that are running near 10 years old and still have no battery trouble.

Gore doesn't have any official say in the current government, if you haven't noticed. and Bush is more interested in keeping the oil companies happy, and they're pissed off enough about hybrids... much less electric cars that require none of their product.

A. Gore didn't win... that's not exactly "withdrawing"... I mean he did make the movie and has been lecturing...

B. What could Gore have done? They didn't have the majority? You act like he has some sort of magic wand he could've waived to make everything ok?

C. Who makes car parts... GM, Ford and ect.... do they want to make electric cars... obviously not or they would have a long time ago.... a part of this is oil companies often buy up the pattents on parts and entire plans on how to build alternative fuel vehicles for billions of dollars, so they won't have to compete... blaming one man for something that's been going on since the 60's is silly....

Al Gore is a sore loser. All he wants to do now is run for president again. The major car makers would put out electric cars if most people wanted them. The cars are not yet ag good as gas powered ones. Hybrids do not use that much less gas to compensate for their higher price. as soon as electric car technology catches up, people will but them

Uh, I don't think the current administration would allow the agencies you mentioned to hire Al Gore.

Gore hasn't withdrawn. According to his movie, he's given the 'inconvenient truth' lecture about a thousand times accross the world since he was VP (which comes to about 200 times a year).

He's doing what he thinks is right. More than we can say of former VPs George Bush Sr and Dan Quayle.

Contrary to popular belief electric energy has nasty waste too. It just comes in the solid (dead battery form-yes every battery eventually dies). If you don't know what I'm talking about google search "Skull Valley Goshutes." Al Gore flipped his rocker...I'm a democrat and that's just what I think...some of the screws aren't in all the way, so he choose to champion something that makes him feel better...the movie is just out there to make him feel better about making himself feel better...just like every other politician.
