It will take time. I would go online and search for a called cowboy magic....see if you can use it on the rabbit. I know that it is nontoxic to horses. If you can use it I would recommend putting that in the armpit areas and anywhere that matting is prone. I used baby hair detangler on mine from johnson and johnson also.

Like the other poster said make sure to treat for hairballs, otherwise you can end up with intestional problems.
Good luck with your bunny.

It will take a couple months to grow back. You need to brush your angora once or twice a week to keep tangles from forming in the wool. If you just cut your angora's wool it will be probably late fall by the time it fully comes back. Most 4-H rabbit shows allow one substitution.

Many Angora breeders actually 'blow' their rabbits rather than brush them. There are commercially available blowers, or I have seen some people use a shop vac put in reverse..just make sure it's empty and clean first.

The idea is to have something blow into the wool strong enough to separate all the fibers and blow away loose or dead hair. Using a blower rather than a brush doesn't damage or break living fiber, so it usually gives a better result for showing.

It will look choppy for awhile like maybe several months.
It will grow back. From now on brush the rabbit everyday.
Sometimes they will get mats under the arms and under the neck even if you brush all the time. You just have to clip them out.
Don't forget to give hairball paste at least once a week as angoras get hairball problems.

You are going to have to shave or cut out the matts. It wont take very long to grow back though.
I highly recommend checking out this site about grooming. http://home.pacbell.net/bettychu/
Betty is one of the top angora breeders in the country. I also recommend doing research before getting into the wooled breeds of rabbits. They are a lot of work.

angora's hair usually grows meduim to fast. just keep brushing. the best thing to do it go to www.ARBA.net and click on the angora button on the right side of the screen where all the breeds are. it should take you to a specialty breed page where it is all about angora's
