I understand that its not all about winning, but if you arent willing to get outside and work with your kid, and you use the playing time as a social time for yourself, then why waste your kids self-esteem for your own satisfaction? Thats my point.

Quite honestly, most parents who have kids that suck at sports don't have a clue themselves that their kid stinks. The parents probably think that their kids will get better with practice. In all my years, I can tell you that practice only helps up to a certain point. Either you "got it" or you don't "got it". You can spot a ballplayer just by the way he/she moves. If they suck, it'll be evident from the second they walk onto the field/court and their parents will be clueless.

*** I'd like to retract my edgy answer above & contribute a more appropriate warm&fuzzy, politically correct answer that'll be more socially acceptable if it pleases everyone.

Baseball is just plain fun wether you are good or bad.youd be surprised how many sucky kids move up and do just fine.As a parent my main goal is to keep my kids active in whatever and keep them out of trouble. Most kids start out sucky ,very few naturals at a young age. When you are ( or if you are ) a parent,I would like to see you tell your child sorry im not signing you up cuz you suck!As a coach i agree with one thing ,the coaches do their best to develop the kids with the little time they have the rest has to be helped by the parents.I personally practice everything with my kids to help improve their game whatever it is.Parents should use the time as a bonding time and have fun and before you know it the kids are getting better.Any parent out there can take the kids to the batting cages and throw balls to the kids.Long story short ive seen many kids at tball and up that were way advanced and looked better than most other kids but in the end they pretty much equal out and every one catches up to their ability and maturity.By the way I dont believe michael jordan made his high school basket ball team until varsity and look what he became....Good thing for us (Chicagoans) his mom and dad signed him up even though at one time he may have sucked.

Beacuse it is fun. If you are 12, you cant really judge talent. Albert Pujols wasnt anything special, he got drafted very late in the draft, i think in the 20th round, and look where he is now...

You cant judge skill by little league, and most of the time, its just so the kid can have run and be with friends.

And Hassan56, I know with determination you can get better with practice. I sucked when I was 10, but by age 15, I could field, hit, and pitch. Talent helps, but hard work, and practice goes a long way.

Because playing ball is not all about winning. Especially when you are a kid. The point is to have fun and learn teamwork. The intangibles are important for the child and it will help them later in life even if they don't choose sports as a teenager or adult. That's why little league coaches use every player on their roster sometimes.

At 6, definite. you will desire to offer them equivalent enjoying time, or a minimum of the prospect for equivalent enjoying time. those young ones that "are not getting it" now, would finally end up being soccer stars in some years. this is approximately gaining awareness of to be on a team, having relaxing and doubtless, gaining awareness of somewhat approximately soccer. Now, because of the fact the little ones get older, they are going to learn that enjoying time is earned from attempt, potential and approach in prepare. i'm shocked that they are even retaining score at age 6, actual, no longer to point having standings for communities. that doesn't oftentimes come alongside till young ones are 8-9. keep in mind those are kindergartners-1st graders. temper your expectancies subsequently.

Because at age 8-12, you're not out there to win championships. And how do you know they suck if you don't give them a chance to play?
