Every teacher I ever had did something wonderful for me. They taught me what they were paid to teach me. We didn't sit around worrying about some ridiculous bad omen on any particular day. We enjoyed being taught things that we needed to know. My teachers did not need to be concerned about someone suing him/her because of some absurd action. I am so thankful that I grew up at the time I did. Things made more sense back then. No one took guns to school, and no one knew what the heck drugs were. I would have thought that that meant medicines. A child was not promoted to the next grade if they spoke bad English or didn't know good grammar., and I am talking about English speaking kids. Sex was something that belonged to the adults. We were very busy having happy childhoods, to be concerned with that. I remember the names of all my wonderful teachers and I will always be thankful for the knowledge that they imparted to me. I'm glad you asked this question, friend.

i was doing some undergrad research for a prof in chemistry and i spilled a bunch of acid in my lap. i ran to the sink and poured water all over myself to dilute it while everyone around me freaked out. i went to look for my prof (we'll call him prof A) and ran into another prof (prof B) outside. he asked me what had happened because i was dripping wet and looked like i had peed my pants. i told him what happened and he told me the same thing happened to him when he was an undergrad except when he did it he didn't know it and the whole crotch of his pants and underwear were burned away. he didn't realize that until he walked all the way across campus and his roommate commented on it and how all his "bits" were hanging out for the world to see. i immediately felt better because the man (prof B) that was telling me this a beloved member of the chemistry faculty and has a building named after him. i figured if HE can do something like this, perhaps i'm not so stupid after all. the prof (prof A) i was working for didn't seem to see it that way however as i haven't been asked back, but that's ok with me. prof B made me feel soooo much better by telling me his embarrassing story.

My French teacher in 9th grade was always willing to talk to me when I was having trouble with something. She was almost like my best friend that year and I told her a lot of things that I didn't want to tell others. My 9th grade English teacher did this for me too sometimes.

The greatest thing a teacher ever did for me was to build my confidence in myself. She saw that I was smart and she made me believe and achieve it by taking a test to get in this private school that was only accepting 10 applicants and she told me I can do it. You know what I did and I was proud of myself and from that point on I knew what I was capable of and I set goals and went for them. So I thank Miss Flornoy for encouraging me and making a difference in my life.

My fourth grade teacher knew my parents were fighting a lot at home. I told her I hated the yelling. It was winter, and it was hard to be outside all the time to escape the fighting. She often pulled me from the cafe to have lunch with her in her class room. she and I would talk and she asked me if I read books to get away from it all and I said "no way, reading is a chore" she said no, it's not, and gave me a beverly cleary book. I was hooked and she was right, reading took me away from the problems in my house.
She gave me a new book to borrow each time I finished the one she gave me before and when my parents divorced, she hugged me while I cried.

I had a bad childhood. I was depressed and used to get into trouble very often. And ofcourse, for my age, stupid as I was, seeked love and used to get dumped easily. Being at home was horrible and so was being outside.

However, during all this, for good 3-4 years, my professor heard me out whenever I was depressed and gave practical advise. I learnt how to stand up for myself and explained me the importance of having a purpose in life and how to gain self-respect.
