How come nowadays, while gays are fighting for their right to get married (and being exposed to be attacked for doing it), straight people are avoiding marriage as a pest?

Straight people have never been denied the right to get married; they take it for granted. Because it is so easy for 2 straight people to get married some have forgotten what marriage is meant to be about and really means. Gay people have never been allowed the same opportunities-so they see it as something special worth fighting for.

because gays want the same rights as anyone else just because they are gay doesnt mean they arent human they should be able to have the same rights as a heterosexual person, but straight people are avoiding marriage because it is beginning to be seen as a trap that will leave you penniless and homeless if you get a divorce from the other person

to me, marriage is a pest. People oughtt to do it if they want. I'm just an antisocial person, and don't like being around/bothered by anyone else much. Wich seems like would happen if i were married. Not that it's likely someone would find me and want to marry me.

It's kind of hard to say. I suppose that some straight couples have certain beliefs in gay marriage...but I'm really not sure. Like I said, it's tough to say. Hope I helped...if not, hope someone ELSE can help! ^^

ooooooooooooo! Excellent question!! That is something to think about! I really don't know how to answer this. I never thought about this before! You bring up an excellent observation. I shall have to think on this a while. All I know is that people in general are afraid of commitment, thus afraid of marriage.

becasue gays want the right just like everyone else. Straight people have more experience with getting married/divorce so they are weary of it

I,m not American, but I like Americans as I hear from friends and see American films that Americans -not the gov,t-are good people,so I think I have the right to say to Americans:be cautious! and be back to family values otherwise we can,t predict what will happen.

We should just them have marriage for a few decades. Then no one will want it and we won't have any more problems with the issue anymore.

Because heterosexuals hate to pay for things and marriage costs money.
