Would bullets be better?

I think that a police officer should be able to use a taser whenever he/she feels it is necessary. I also think that it should be documented, including the reason the taser was used, to help prevent misuse.

This would include having a counter installed on each taser, so someone could tell how many times it had been used.

I have read this in the news. She was not taserred because of a ticket but because he refused to get out of her SUV as asked or provider her id or registration. He could either taser her, use his nightstick or climb in the SUV and handcuff her. For his safety he choose not to climb in and handcuff her and for her he felt the taser would be less harmful then using the nightstick. It was determined by IAD that he was in the right.

If you resist an officer you just might get tasered or worse. Most cops do not abuse their power, yes a few do but they are not the norm. So what is your problem you are always after the cops, are you just tired of getting arrested yourself because of the choices you make???

No, they should not be allowed to use them. I think tasers seriously effect the "electronics" of the body (as in brain waves, nerves, pulses). The even sadder situation is no manufacturers - because there is money to be made - are putting these weapons into the hands of Anybody Joe Public. Tasers have caused death and police are using them on kids (too).

No, tasers should be outlawed.

As someone who was trained when and how to use a Taser (and that training required that I be tased) I can tell you that woman was not "innocent". Besides it's only a 5 second ride at 50,000 volts.

Or should they just use a .45 slug.

Have you ever done a cop's job. Any citizen can do a ride along. I have done many. The fine men and women risk their lives almost every day to keep you safe.

Many violent criminals are caught for minor infractions.

Well, since their training officer determined that he was in the right to do that, then yes, it is ok. I am sure the department will review this again, but it appears everything is ok. This won't happen to me since I would be cooperative and not resistant to an officer.

If I am stopped by a policeman I do what he tells me and cooperate. He doesn't know me from Adam and he doesn't know if I'm a good or bad guy. I will give him no reason to use excessive force. If I do, its my fault, not his. In a police situation, like it or not, they are in control. If you don't accept this control, you'll have problems. If you're innocent, then you'll have your day in court.

Under the right circumstances they should be used. Its a lot safer for the officer and the suspect if they wee tazed than othr methods.

Stop asking the same question over and over again. its not allowed. Stop ticking off the cops, and they won't tazer you. They only tazer you because they would have too much paper work if they shot you like they want to do.
