I don't know if this is an acceptable answer, but here goes: they just want something to complain about! I mean, like most television shows today, the storylines that take place are completely fictional! (With that said, I don't see anyone complaining about some of these oh-so-crappy shows that, for some odd reason, get some of the best ratings!) What is so hard to understand and/or accept? Moreover, though the action may differ, wrestling is no different then, let's say, a soap opera! Like you said, it's just entertainment! Geez!

I am an educated, degreed professional who happens to like wrestling...and I take exception to Hassan56's remarks. It seems that when someone doesn't understand something, their only refuge is to try to denegrate it. Why do I like wrestling? Because it's pure, escapist fun. It's not a sport; it's sports ENTERTAINMENT. It's like a type of soap opera in a way- but for guys as well as women....the storylines, the feuds, the divas, etc. Plus it has the hunky male athletes for all the females to salivate over. It's not catering to your intellect, and has never pretended to; it's catering to your ability to have fun and respect great athletic ability. And there IS plenty of athletic ability if you watch what these performers do in the ring. Yes, the outcomes are predetermined...everyone knows that, so stop parroting the same tired "it's fake" cliches. We get it, OK? If you don't like wrestling, for whatever reason, it's simple..DON'T WATCH. But stop wasting air bashing those who enjoy it. Enough said.

Fake is not the correct word. If you went to see a play would you call the play a fake?...No. The fact that fans don't know who will win the matches is enough for me. I've followed Pro Wrestling for 26 years and I know all about it. Maybe someone will explain the psychology of Pro Wrestling to you some day. And by the way...the money these Pro Wrestlers make ain't fake!

Funny that they can pan wrestling as fake and fixed, and not realize that boxing is pretty much the same. Yes, a number of the moves are choreographed and the results are scripted, but there's still a ton of athleticism out there that's taken for granted, and a lot of injuries that wrestlers "play" through (just ask HHH when he tore the tendons above his knee and his quadricep muscle rolled up his leg).
Movie violence is scripted and choreographed, yet people view that as more real. Like Jackie Chan's moves don't look as fake if not phonier than any wrestler's.

the bottom line is that is is for the most part staged , wrestlers are some of the most athletic people in the world , they do do amazing stunts and do get hurt a lot . nobody talks bad about stunt men for not jumping off that building for real . the shows are very entertaining if you keep up , if you are flipping through channels and catch a bad match then you will never watch it , but if you keep up with the storylines it is very entertaining , i hate to say it but it is a man's soap opera

Wrestling fan for more than 24 yrs, WWE's shows are obviously predetermined, but the main purpose is no different than a circus, a soap opera, a movie, etc ..... is directed, marketed, exploited, sold, advertised to people who enjoys it, in any way, for whatever reason logical or not.
In the WWE's case, Vince has accomplished the main goal, run a SUCCESSFUL business.

The average IQ of professional wrestling fans is only slightly lower than that of NASCAR fans. The demented fantasy that professional wrestling peddles to their fans is definitely more glamorous & exciting than their own pitiful lives. It makes sense that they'd rather perceive a reality populated with muscle-bound millionaires & beautiful, scantily clad women and over-the-top violence. It sure beats out their true reality of poverty, $5/pack cigarettes & non-winning scratch-off lottery tickets.

that's authentic and pretend. The storylines are pretend.i imagine they arise with different stuff each and each and every week and kinda improv. a number of the strikes are pretend~like the hitting (and the bleeding is many times a self inflicted small hidden blade in the course of the forehead),yet to boot a number of the strikes are authentic.they are really falling & they get damage each and each and every of the time~even although they do comprehend the thanks to do the strikes in a thanks to make it look painful, yet that isn't.when I went to a house tutor,we were contained in the second one row & i might want to hear the wrestlers telling whoever they were wrestling what flow they were gonna do next.I say in case you want it,do not project about what individuals say~all the different exhibits on television are pretend too.wish this facilitates! :)

dude i feel the same way I try to tell my frends its all fake and they wont admit it even though they are 12-17 they wont listen to me and its aggrivating. They dont get that the United States would not put people up on stage if they were in danger and in an audience. Its putting impressions onkids that this stuff is safe and then they go out there and break their necks.
