yes. Ideally you dont put the veh. in OD until it reaches speeds over 50 mph. and you would be driving a longer distance ie the hiway. Drive would be used for the city and such, sudden changes in speeds, stopping and going. and Under 5o mph

D is drive OD is just over drive higher gear means engine turns at lower RPM giving you better gas milage. Does no harm to car to switch back and forth. You Win!

You should always drive in OD to save fuel. When you are towing or driving in the hills use D or 1..2..3. And yes its ok to shift between them while driving. Check your owners manual if you are in doubt.

You can shift gears @ anytime from D to OD or from Low 1 up thru the gears into OD.It don`t matter.

you can it no big deal it is just going from drive to over drive like your 5 gear and OD saves you gas it is like shifting in a manual car

I used to go to OD on the freeway and back... but then that car no longer lives. so the awnser is yes but might not be a good idea... try posting the car you have it might help for better awnsers

Nope, you can do it while driving. Probably not real good for the transmission, but I have accidental hit the shifter and switched it, you can feel it happen.

You can but it's better in an automatic to switch gears while stopped. I don't know how to prove it. I just know it's better for the transmission.
