They do cry. There is a video you can watch of an ACTUAL abortion and while the baby is being poisened by the medicine being injected in the womb, the babies mouth opens in closes in pain and scrunches it's face up and dies. They do cry AND scream. It's just silent, that's all.

Sound waves move in air. There's no air inside the womb. I guess whales etc can make sounds in water, sound waves move in water, too. Don't know if babies do that. They might. Interesting idea. I think humans have to pass air over the vocal chords to get them to vibrate and make a sound. Not sure it would create a sound in water. But they can sure scream the minute they come out, huh?

Why SHOULD a baby cry before birth? However, without working vocal cords and air to push through them...there would be no sound anyway!

The vocal cords require air to create sound and in the womb there is no air. The amnoctic sac is full of fluid.

ecause their lungs are not yet fully developed and he is not breathing any air, therefor they can not cry, they cry when they come out when a hormone is released to the lungs so they can start working and as soon the baby grasps his/her first breath then there's the most beautiful sound in the world, your baby's first cry.

Why would a baby cry, then? The trouble starts once we leave the womb.

they survive on whatever is inside the womb. there is no oxygen and they would drown if they swallowed the fluids. they don't need to cry either. they're well taken care of.

They need air to blow past their vocal cords to create the sound of crying.

You can't cry if you have no air in your lungs. Babies "breathe" amniotic fluid while in the womb, not air.
