Of course it is alright. Most 16 year olds are just full of themselves. They are not adults. Not in the eyes of law or not even otherwise. If a mother (given that she is in her right mind, caring, and compassionate, with the only the best of intentions for her child) so deems it necessary to resort to mild physical punishment, then it is her discretion. Further more it is a reflection upon the child that having pushed the parents to such extremes that they must commit to harsh methods. This form of punishment hurts the parents more than it does the kids and yet we do it for the good, for the right, and justice to prevail. Such that they may grow up to recoginze and be aware of the choices that they make with understandings of repressions of their acts, is all that any of us parents want.

Beating is a form of disipline used by LAZY parents. It's used for young children who don't communicate effectively yet, and aren't in complete control of their actions. Hitting a 16 year old, who you could have just as easily had a conversation with, makes you an abuser.

it depends is she hitting you as in trying to abuse you or have you been a bad daughter and she is spanking you to make you realize what you have done is wrong because you dont listen to her? i feel it is necessary to try everything else that you can think of to solve a situation with out having to spank your child at any age under 18 but sometimes when everything else fails it is the only way to knock some since into your child, but you dont have to hit them so hard that you give them bruises or hit them 10 or 15 times, that means that the adult, parent needs to destress before handing out any punishments to make sure that they dont get carried away cause it does happen. i hope this answers your question!

It depends on how she is hitting her as long as she is not pounding on her than we really cant say to much about the way someone disciplines their child. But it's said that at a certain age being hit by ur parents shouldnt happen because ur at a age where u are learning responsibility and should be punished in a diff. way!

Now I would say NO and that makes me a hypocrit for I did it to my daughter when she was fresh and 18, a slap across the face which she is still talking about 30 years later. I think our frustration gets the best of us with our kids.

Yes, if you deserved it - and as long as she didn't go overboard. A lot of Americans like to gasp and shriek when parents hit their kids, but in Europe we do it all the time - and guess what? It works, and there's nothing wrong with it.

It depends on why and how hard. My mother hit me a few times in my teen years for calling her a *****. I completely deserved it!

No..no and NO! Parents should NEVER hit there children. And if they do that child should be saying, umm Mom, do you think hitting me does any good? And that will give her something to think about, believe me!...and if its really bad, you should leave.
