I really want a pet, but my parents wont let me get one until I'm more responsible. But if they do agree, what pet should it be?

i really think a small pet would be best since my mom is terrified of dogs and my dad detests cats...mice and frogs aren't to my mom's liking either...

Definetly not a dog. I have a dog, and they need a lot of attention, and if you don't have the time and energy it's not a good idea. You probably want somthing small and low maitenance, like maybe a rodent, maybe a gerbil or hamster? That's what I'm getting now, even though I still have a dog. My first animal was a cat, and turthfully cats dont need a lot of attention either, but you do have to clean their litter boxes often. Might want to try a website that can give good pet options for your personal lifestyle.

a hamster or a gerbil is a great first pet
you clean the cage once a week make sure they have food and water and toys and play with them and make sure they get plenty of excersice but they dont take up to much time and are relativly cheap. Rabbits are also good but are more expensive and live about 6 years longer. I would definatly not reccomend a cat, dog, horse, or ferret. They are great first pets, my family has always had dogs and cats but when I wanted a pet of my own I got a hamster. That convinced my mom I was responsible. Now I have my own dog, cat, 3 rabbits, horse and hamster.

A beta is fairly easy. Can have a small half gallon to gallon tank to live in with out being cramped looking. Feed it and clean the tank once a week.
Or a small cage bird like a Zebra Finch.
Or a guinea pig.
Go to a local pet shop and ask the owner/ several workers what they think.

There are many different kinds of guinea pig, Abyssinian, shaggy shelties, silky satins and wavy rexes to name just a few. Forget all that (unless it's very important to you)What you need is a short haired guinea pig. They are easy to look after and just as pretty as their long haired cousins.

Buy at least two guinea pigs. They get lonely on their own. You must get guinea pigs of the same sex (two boys or two girls) or you will very quickly have more guinea pigs than you can handle. If you are going to have more than two then you should get females as males will fight. Kate says "typical". Choose your guinea pigs from a litter that is at least six weaks old.

The puppies (baby guinea pigs) that you choose should be plump and well fed, should have bright eyes and clear ears and nose, and should have shiny, silky fur all over including under the bottom.

Guinea Pigs are vegetarians. Don't buy them burgers they'll just waste them. Fresh scraps from the kitchen are fine as are grass (not lawn clippings), dandelions, and clover. They will also like celery, cucumber, sweetcorn (maize), capsicum pepper, carrots and fruit. More convenient and cheaper is dried mix from the pet shop. A large bag will last for ages.

well, since i know you, no fish. no turtle, they kind of smell, no rodents, and now cat or dog. I would say, get a mini frog. All i know is you could get them at Ocean City. They are very easy to take care of. Just bring them home and feed them 2 pellets on Monday and Thursday. You don't need to clean them out because there are snails that eat the algea! hopes this helps! =P
i think that there website is www.aquababy.com

Leopard gecko: very little smell at all (none if you keep it clean), will not chew on shoes, will not need to be taken out for a walk either. They can live 10-20 years in a 10 gals aquarium. You will however, need to feed it mealworms and crickets.

Good luck!
