Droughts. There's not enough water, it doesn't rain enough, so there are not good conditions to grow food and they often lose their crop. Also, those countries are poor and the people have little education, so they use old-fashioned methods that aren't as productive as the modern methods that use technology more. Most of the work is done by hand, few African farmers can afford to buy tractors and such things.
