If your eardrum is ruptured, there is no reason you can't fly. The problem comes with a clogged eustacian tube (tube between the nose and the ears) the changes in air pressure with flying can cause some people problems. Once the tympanic membrane is ruptured these changes can't do anything to the ear.

If you had an ear infection it would be advisable to avoid flying because of the altitude and pressure changes within and without. Your ear drum (the tympanic membrane) will most likely seal itself without a patch OR you may have already had a patch placed by the doctor. Either way, you should be fine to fly. I used to work Head & Neck surgery.

If your GP has OK'd it then it should be fine - Presumably he/she has examined you properly. Usually ear problems when flying are related to the eustacion tube and build up of pressure, and your doctor clearly doesn't see this as a problem, so neither should you. If your'e still worried, try and get a second opinion from a professional - There are too many amateur doctors on these sorts of sites to trust information given this way (myself included!!)

If the eardrum is already busted, the air pressure won't bother you. Don't you believe him?

i didnt that once. it hurts like hell. but you can do anything but swim. but truly i knew flew with it so i wouldnt no....hmmm im sure itll be fine, actually it wont hurt as much. i mean think about it, when u go up there is more pressure on the eardrum but now you dont have one. i dunnno lol

My boyfriend has a broken ear drum and recently flew to New York and then back to Florida with me, and he was fine. Trust your doctor.
If you're worried, though, you could always buy some cheap wax ear plugs and use one while on the plane.

if doctor has give you the ok then get gone.personally i love flying so much i'd have gone with it busted!
