I was 19 when I told my parents that I'm straight. My mom took it pretty well, she said she had thought that for some time now. My dad didn't say anything. I haven't mustered up the courage to tell everyone, just my parents and my good friends. It felt good though. Some people were more surprised than others to hear that I wasn't gay, just an ally

I haven't come out ot everyone I knew, because I'm not brave enought after reaction of theorethically the closest person to me - my mom. it was a few months ago and now I'm 22. I wish I could come out to everyone, but I guess to afraid of consequences. these that I had to face after telling my mom were and still are eating me alive. So I'm not sure if I'm gonna do it, even tho sometimes I'd like to.

I was 19. After living a homosexual life for 4 year prior to that. At the time my boyfriend attempted suicide. I was drug out of the closet. When he was in the hospital he told my sister, and his parents that he was in love with me. The reason why he was trying to kill himself was I wanted out of the relationship. I was finished and I wanted to move on with my life.

After everyone found out the truth. My mom freaked the f*ck out on me. But when became comfortable with it. She has been to the Atlanta Pride Festival with me 3 years in a row. We even went to a club.

The entire world knew in a short time. Now they are ALL going to be confused. Because for whatever reason I have fallen in love with this female.

I came out to myself in the first semester of my junior year of HS, to my 5 closest friends at the begining of the 2nd semester, and have come out to almost all of my friends and imediate family. I have not had any truly BAD reactions, and most people accept me (I'm bi, the ignored group). I came out to one of my friends about 10 seconds after he told me he was gay. He was the first person I told, and he is currently living with me until he starts college this fall and moves out. We came out in sync, for the most part, though he was -and is- much, MUCH more flamboyant than I am.
Some of my friends don't know either b/c they don't want to see, they haven't asked (I am mostly 'straight,' so it's not as obvious as with my other friend), or they really, REALLY would take it badly. I simply can't tell most of my extended family, and I can't tell A-N-Y-O-N-E on my dad's (very, VERY conservative Southern Baptist) side if I ever want to see them again.
True is the statement that ignorance is bliss..
I have, as I said, come out to most of my friends, and I am one of hte students at my school who is trying to get a GSA (I say it should be GSBA, but I'll take what I can get...) started at my school. Soon after my friend and I came out, I learned that not a few of my other friends were also gay or bi. It has been a very, VERY interesting semester.
Due to my religious beliefs, I have chosen to live a sexually heterosexual life. As I said, I prefer the opposite gender, so this is not hard to do. ((Of course, I have nil prospects in either gender, so it's a moot point, anyway...grar))
I still enjoy the look on the faces of my friends who didn't realize when I tell them...Priceless.
Coming out is an ongoing, neverending process, and i intend to have fun with it.

I was 17 and in the military. It was hard! My mom had gay friends but it was hard for her to deal with her only daughter being a Lesbian. My brothers were and are great and I get lots of time with the neices and nephews. It took 13 yrs for my mom to come around. My dad is a freak but he was always ok with it.

I was 12. It was fine. All my friends already knew. My parents understood why and how it happened.
