YOU cannot keep the peace but you family can. Trust me I know. When they do get together just ask your family to at least be cordial. Have your husband to ask the same of his family. lol.. We have a family occasion coming up and I just pray that all goes well. As long as he is not like them then things should be okay. Good Luck

all you can do is smile and nod. Mentally you have every right to be disgusted so do so. And make sure you raise your children with the values you have rather than theirs. It has to be really hard not being able to trust anyone of you in-laws. At the same time, if someone ever says anything about your family or friends you have every and all right to stick up for them.

sounds like you need to just smile and not tell them your families business - when they ask how someone is just say "they are good" if they hear about your family elsewhere and bring it up to you say "i did not hear that, so i do not want to dscuss it until i know the whole story" and change the subject.

sounds like theya re very inscure and need to gossip to make themselves feel better - do not let them get to you - avoid them if you can - when you cant - keep the conversation light - the weather - the new summer fashions - things that do not mean anything to you or them personally.

i have the same problem my fiancees family is nuts!! everything they do is right and everyone else is crazy and wrong YET his parents are on anti depressants and they convinced his 13 yr old NORMAL brother that he has panic attacks-HUH? so yeah i know where ure coming from. just ignore them and try to spend the least amount of time with them but never be nasty. i just try and remove myself from them at all costs without being obvious about it. how does ure husband feel does he understand? luckily my fiancee is the one that made me realize it first, remember they are family but they're opinions are their own and shouldnt affect you!

Stay out of it. Why do you feel a need to tell them what is going on in your family? If your husband is the one telling them, ask him to stop.

Who cares about what judgmental people think? Ignore them and don't give them anything to pass judgment on in the first place.
