There is a big difference between liking someone and loving someone. Liking someone means to enjoy their company, have fun with that person, but there is no physical chemistry. Loving someone and being in love with someone is also different. You can love your family members, love a best friend, love your cat, dog etc. To be IN LOVE with someone has a totally different meaning............to be IN LOVE means accepting the good and bad, wanting that person physically as well as just enjoying being in the same room with them without speaking one single word.

Of course everyone describes like, love in different ways. There is no right or wrong answer. Its basically what you feel down deep inside and you go with those feelings. You will distinguish the difference by experience with different types of people you come in contact with.

That is a big question! I think if more people knew the answer to that, there wouldn't be so many divorces!
Love to me, is accepting the other person for who they are and liking them in spite of their faults - remember you can't change another person only yourself. Love is being together for the long haul, sharing all the good and difficult times life may bring, and through all this your love should grow. Love is a commitment and the reward over years is well worth it.

You'll get several interpretations about what love is. Also, you'll probably be getting some loser quoting something from a philosopher, a poet, or a writer. The truth is, nobody can give you a definite answer as to what love is, because it's perceived differently through the eyes of individuals.

As the old saying goes, "Love is what you make it." So ask yourself, what is love to you?

You can't explain love. It is great when you have it...you get butterflies, excited, warm. When it goes away it is like being hit by a Mack truck. It can be beautiful and ugly all in split second. Don't watch your heart too close though, you won't be able to open up to the other person...it is not so bad to leave it out there. Nothing ventured then nothing gained.

Love is a condition or phenomenon of emotional primacy, or absolute value. Love generally includes an emotion of intense attraction to either another person, a place, or thing; and may also include the aspect of caring for or finding identification with those objects, including self love. Love can describe an intense feeling of affection, an emotion or an emotional state. In ordinary use, it usually refers to interpersonal love, an experience usually felt by a person for another person. Love is commonly considered impossible to define.

Since a long time in the past, men and women have looked for the that means of affection. But even the quality philosophers, with their profound definitions, might now not utterly contact its real essence. In a survey of four-eight yr olds, youngsters proportion their perspectives on love.

I asked this question myself recently and here is something I found helpful:

Love is like the answer to a riddle. Other answers may seem good or clever, but only this one answer is perfect.

When you love someone, you are totally yourself with them. Nothing can drive a wedge between you. Whatever life throws at you, you deal with together.

Liking someone is compassion, loving someone can not be defined with mere words it's a feeling. To lay your life down without an ounce of hesitation, to see yourself with them years down the road and thinking of them makes your heart skip a beat all flourish far more than caring about them. Love is unconditional and a reward.

According to Robert Sternberg's research, "Love" is an emotion consisting of three components: intimacy, passion & committment.

Intimacy, the feeling close and connected to someone (developed through sharing and very good communications over time). Intimacy is what makes you want to share and offer emotional and material support to each other.
-Intimacy alone is Liking (true friendship without passion or long-term commitment)

Passion, the feeling physically aroused and attracted to someone. Passion is what makes you feel "in love" and is the feeling most associated with love. It also rises quickly and strongly influences and biases your judgment.
-Passion alone is Infatuation (passionate, obsessive love at first sight without intimacy or commitment)

Commitment, pledging to your self and each other to strengthen the feelings of love and to actively maintain the relationship. Commitment is what makes you want to be serious, have a serious relationship and promise to be there for the other person if things get tough.
-Commitment alone is Empty Love (decision to love another without intimacy or passion)

Romantic Love: Intimacy & Passion, no Commitment
-Lovers physically and emotionally attracted to each other but without commitment
-“As in a summer romance”

Companionate Love: Intimacy & Commitment, but no Passion
-Long-term committed friendships or a marriage in which the passion has faded
-I love you but I’m not IN love with you

Fatuous Love: Passion & Commitment, but no Intimacy
-Commitment based on passion with without time for intimacy to develop
-Shallow relationship such as a whirlwind courtship

Consummate Love: A complete love consisting of all three components
