I have several sites on Geocities, but wouldn't recommend them anymore, because:

- they have a huge lateral bar on the right full of ads - makes your pages look "cheap"

- they now installed a new effective pop-up system and you see it each time you go on your site (and visitors can think you are doing it, and they close your page right away).

There are alternatives, but you must check on how they make money (which is fine, as the pages are hosted for free, as long as it's not TOO much ads...):

- Lycos (excellent servers, very fast, reliable for html pages, video, images, etc)
- Tripod (beware, I think there's a lot of ads there too)

So now, if I wanted a free host, I think I'd go for Lycos...

Good luck!

there are a few that I would recommend.
Geocites is good but they put ads on your site. if you wish not to have ads you can go with FSPhost.com, they have good, fast servers and the account setup is instant. if you want to see how fast their servers are go to http://www.Ramppage.co.nr, it's a website that uses FSPhost as a host.
if you dont like FSPhost.com then Awardspace.com,
Atspace.com, and 110mb.com work very well too.
i've tested all of these out and know that they work.

Yahoo Geocities is pretty good.

I have used it before, and I like it.

Plus, you already have an account and all, so it should be pretty easy to do.

If you pay for DSL or Cable modem then it probably includes some free web space.
