whoa, that's, like, a riddle within a question within a conundrum! Now all I need is some espresso and two mirrors facing each other!

Well, if you are what you eat, I'd be a pizza! But if you're eating cows in the first place, then that kind of means that you aren't vegan, because you'd be eating meat. If you ate, like, lettuce, then you would be vegan because you would be and the lettuce would be too!

nope

you are what you eat is a figure of speech

"A figure of speech, sometimes termed a rhetorical figure or device, or elocution, is a word or phrase that departs from straightforward, literal language. Figures of speech are often used and crafted for emphasis, freshness of expression, or clarity. However, clarity may also suffer from their use."

a vegan is a defined term
"a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment."

if you eat cows, you cannot, by definition, be a vegan

well . . if cows eat grass. . . and so they become grass . . . then you eat "grass" and you become grass . . . . and therefore are you considered a vegan? do you only eat grass?

cows don't eat "vegan" . . . . so the technical logic doesn't work. . .
