Hi,

Please check if u have any kind of Firewall(WIN XP internal or an external one). Disable it. Also disable the Anti-virus installed on the computer. Also uninstall any Spyware/freeware installed on the computer.

NOTE:- Disable all of the above softwares on both the computers.

All the Best!

I am assuming you have a dual boot system. But this answer will also work if you have two computers running two systems on a home network.

It would be easier the other way around, but I never use simple file sharing. Uncheck that box in Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab

Your Drive on which you have XP Home installed is shared as a "default share" by default.

Go to the My Computer Icon... Right click on the Drive where your XP Home is installed (if you are running a dual boot computer... e.g. both operating systems on the same computer).
Select Properties, Go to the 'Sharing Tab' and select the radio button "Do not Share this Folder".

If you are running two systems on a Network, you will have to do this on the C Drive of your XP Home Computer.

All drives are shared by default as X$ where X is the Drive Letter so that the administrator can access the drive using D$ as the drive name when trying to connect over a network. This is called the "default share" and is present on all drives unless you disable it.

You have to have file sharing turned on on both pc's and run the Network setup wizard on the Windows XP Pro and create the network set-up disk and run it on the Windows XP Home PC. Also check to make sure that you have the correct network protocols installed on both PC'S.

If both computer are physically connected & shared then use following method:

Go to My network->Network Tasks->setup a Home or office Network.

After sucessfully complited this wizard your both computer shows shared computer viasvarsa.

do this both computer. If in your network you have win 98 then make home networking setup file and copy in to win98 OS computer and run it.
