When you are using Yahoo mail look for the "Move" tab in the inbox window. Click it. You will see an option "new folder". You will also see the names of folders which you have created.

Now, to send an incoming mail to a particular folder, first check the check-box on the left side of the name of the sender of that particular mail. You can do this by simply clicking on the checkbox.

Then, after you have checked the check-box (whether you have checked the check-box can be verified by the fact that if you see a tick mark in the check-box then it is checked) click on the "Move" tab and then click on "new folder". Then type the name of the folder you want to create, when prompted. Press enter. Your selected message will go to this newly made folder.

However to send a message to an existing folder, follow the above procedure and click on the name of the folder instead of clicking on "new folder".

For sending multiple messages to a single folder at the same time repeat one of the above procedure, whichever applicable, with the exception that instead of checking one checkbox, check all checkboxes adjacent to the messages you want to move to the new folder.

Hope this helps

Use gmail. It has inbuilt filter which labels and directs them to specific folder based on many categories like incoming mail address, certain key words etc.
