Your marriage should be based on mutual trust and respect. Instead of making up an excuse, be honest with him, if he can't deal with you needing a little time for yourself(unless you need time away to cheat) then you both need marriage counselling.

Go get your girlfriend to massage,kiss and ******** your husband while you go visit your old school friend next city.Am sure your husband would not resist.He would wish you stay for one year,not the weekend.If you think it would hurt you to do so,then think right. It would also hurt your husband to find out that you lied in order to get a weekend freak.With who else?if not another man?cos if your reason is genuine,you will talk it out with him.So girlfriend,choose which one you want.GOOD LUCK.

Just tell him the truth..that you need the weekend off from him.If you have a dirty plan then you will need an excuse to support that but if its just for other reasons not hurtful then go ahead.

if you are not doing dirt, and you arent trying to disrespect the marriage---then just let him know you are going away for the weekend, be open about it,,,if you are honest there shouldnt be any reason for doubt right? He probably wont mind a weekend without you too, think about that!
