Oooh, that's a complex type of character, but he doesn't get much play in this particular story. He's pretty much an enabler of her "eccentricities", and then gently fades away with dignity when she's gone. A similar character would be Max von Mayerling from the movie "Sunset Boulevard", it might be interesting to watch that one, and compare the two for your paper!
