Long live the "Queen!" Freddie Mercury, in my opinion, was one of the greatest musical artists. If they can put out movies like the Doors, Walk the Line (Johnny Cash), etc., they could make a successful movie about Queen and Freddie Mercury. I don't know if it would do as well here in the US as it would "across the pond"- especially in Great Britian-because ,although his anthem rock hits are staples at every American sporting event, most people under 35-40 (I'm 36) do not really know anything about Queen. Then again, I wouldn't of thought that Walk the Line would be a hit either. As to who would play him, there are a couple ways to look at it. Do you want a singer acting or an actor singing? British or American? To get the largest draw in the US, you would have to go with an American celebrity and one who would be willing to be associated with the AIDS/homosexual aspect (I also believe that many American religious groups would protest the movie). I know Jon Bon Jovi sings and has done some movies, Val Kilmer was good as Jim Morrison. An even more interesting pick for me would be someone like Adam Sandler who can actually sing but has been typecast as the goofy doofus type in so many bad American comedies; who knows, with the right serious role maybe he could break out of his typecast like he has been trying to do. I'm sure Hollywood could do a better job of picking the right person because I'm really not much of a movie-goer but I actually would go see a movie on Queen. Thanks for the question, I think Ill go play a Queen CD. I'm not sure if that was inspired or scarey when I finished my answer and saw I wasn't the only one suggesting Adam Sandler.

Who would want Michael Jackson to portray Freddie Mercury? That's like having a smurf play the part of bigfoot in a movie.

Maybe that kid who got chosen to sing with INXS? I can't remember if he had a good vocal range, though...

Michael Jackson is nothing like Freddy Mercury. I dont think a movie about just him would be great... but a movie about Queen that ended with what happened to him might be interesting.

Maybe Jake Gylenhaal could grow a mustache. He's used to playing gays.

I personally like Queen, but really don't care for a movie about Freddy Mercury. A VH1 special would be enough. I'd say Jared Leto should play him though.

Definitely a movie about Queen should happen someday. I'll say Johnny Depp to play Freddie just because he has the dark mysterious quality. Would be great!

Well, you know if they make a biography of a good musician, it will turn out crappy.
But to answer your question, no one can play the part as
Freddie Mercury. QUEEN ROCKS!
