The date of my last period was may 19th- My fiance and I used the withdrawl method during this time. for the past 3 days my chest is sore, i have muscle pains throughout my body including my back, my gums on my lower teeth are red and sore and im going to the bathroom more frequently and even i i get 8 hours of sleep- i find im still exhausted. Could i be preggers? and if so, when would i be able to take a test? Some say it should be this way until a week after my missed period- my period is due on the 17th. Please help!

If you want to take a test as soon as possible, several days before your missed period are fine. If you want the most accurate results the first time you take the test, wait until a week after the first day of your missed period.

Withdrawal is actually more accurate than many people believe--*if* it is used correctly. The problem with it (from a statistical perspective) is that you can't know if it *was* used correctly until afterwards! But if the man times it correctly, it is 96% effective. (See sources section below.)

As for whether you are pregnant, aside from frequent urination and tiredness, none of the things you describe are typical signs of pregnancy. And even those usually only starts to be an issue after the first missed period. And they were *all* too early to have possibly been caused by pregnancy. If your period were due on 17 June, then you would have ovulated between 1-5 June. It takes about a week for the fertilized egg to get to the uterus to start implanting, then another couple of days for it to start producing hormones at a level that can cause signs of pregnancy. So the earliest you would have been likely to have anything would have been 9 June.

It mostly depends on the dates you and your fiance (congratulations, by the way!) used the pull out method. If it was around 12-16 days ago, the chances that you are pregnant are significanly higher.

Your symptoms are usuallly indicative of pregnancy, but can also be caused by stress (wedding planning can be rough!).

Anyway, you can take a test on the 17th. Home p-tests measure the level of Hcg in your body. You would be about 2 weeks pregnant on the 17th, if you are, so your Hcg level would most likely be high enough for a home test to detect it.

If you get a (-) test on the 17th and no period for three days, you would probably want to re-test at that time.

Take care!

When you say the 17th, I am assuming you mean 17th of May. If that is the case you are mostly likely pregnant. I would go get an EPT or find yourself to a doctor for the blood test.

I would wait at least 2 or 3 days after you miss your period. And since you have not missed your period yet.....it probably wouldn't show up on a home pregnancy test. Good Luck!
