The best way to really tell is by having an ultrasound. Thre are many myths out there and none of them are true. But really why do you need to know. I have 5 kids now and it is so awesome on the day when they are born when you get to find out who they are! The only true surprise left in life is finding out the sex of your baby when they ar born. Hope you have a happy pregnancy!

s pregnant my mother in law told me to tie a string to a needle. Hold the needle to your stomach by holding the string and let the needle hang close to your belly button so it is almost touching. Wait untill it is perfectly still. Then wait to see if it moves in a circular motion or up in down motion. If circular it is a boy if up and down then a girl. I had 3 boys and it always moved in a circular motion. I know it works because i only had a ultrasound with the first boy. I did this and knew i was having a boy some people say it is only fun but i say it works from exsperience. So try it it can't hurt. Also they say if you crave derry products its a girl and junk food it's a boy. Another one is a girl steals the mothers beauty. Which means if you get chubby in the face and every where else it s a girl and if you only get bigger in the stomach it's a boy. Again i had three boys and only gained a bout 15 pounds each pregnancy. I didn't get one stretch mark or anything. I only looked like i had a little basket ball in my stomach. After i had my boys i was back to my normal size a week later. My sister had a girl and gained alot a weight and that was almost a year ago and she is still fighting to lose the weight.

You can have an ultrasound sometimes they are quite revealing. If there are congenital defect concerns, (and usually that is only time they will preform this type of test) you can have what is called an amniocentesis (dang my spelling) where they draw a small amount of fluid from around the baby will tell them about the baby's genetic make up including sex, and congenital defects, ie: down syndrome etc. (usually done for women ages 35 and up where the increased age poses a greater risk for birth defects.).
Another wives tale: Take your wedding ring... Or any ring that you wear, put it on a chain or string hold it over your belly.....
Ask the question. If the ring swings back and forth, its a boy
If it swings in a circle its a girl. It's suppossedly a test of the subconscious. You have to try and keep the hand holding the ring and string still.... when I was younger, it worked for my daughter.. but not on my sons... LOL... but its still fun.
Congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy.. I bet you are super excited! Have fun with your pregnancy!

Waiting until the baby comes out is best, there have been no studies showing improved outcomes with the use of routine ultrasounds. However, if you do need to have an ultrasound for medical reasons, the technician can try to get you a view of your baby's genitals, but keep in mind that that can still be inaccurate so don't throw away your receipts until the baby's out.

Ultrasound is the only way, but just for fun... here are some "ways to tell" that are cool:
It's a boy if:
You didn't experience morning sickness in early pregnancy
Your baby's heart rate is less than 140 beats per minute
You are carrying the extra weight out front
Your belly looks like a basketball
Your areolas have darkened considerably
You are carrying low
You are craving salty or sour foods
You are craving protein -- meats and cheese
Your feet are colder than they were before pregnancy
The hair on your legs has grown faster during pregnancy
Your hands are very dry
Your pillow faces north when you sleep
Dad-to-be is gaining weight, right along with you
Pregnancy has you looking better than ever
Your urine is bright yellow in color
Your nose is spreading
You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves in circles
You are having headaches
You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an even number
It's a girl if:
You had morning sickness early in pregnancy
Your baby's heart rate is at least 140 beats per minute
You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear
Your left breast is larger than your right breast
Your hair develops red highlights
You are carrying high
Your belly looks like a watermelon
You are craving sweets
You are craving fruit
You crave orange juice
You don't look quite as good as normal during pregnancy
You are moodier than usual during pregnancy
Your face breaks out more than usual
You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread
Your breasts have really blossomed!
Your pillow faces south when you sleep
Your urine is a dull yellow color
You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves from side to side
You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an odd number

There is no way of telling right now as it is too soon, but once you are about four or five months and have your ultrasound, if the baby is in the right position, they may be able to let you know the gender of the baby. Now, if you just want to have some fun, go online to "gender prediction" or to the "Chinese birth chart" and it will tell you what they think you will be having... Remember, this is just for fun, no facts.... Congrats.....

I am so dumb! One time I accidentally threw some whitey tighties in the wash with some red towels and shirts, and now I have pink panties! Can you believe it? How embarrasing? Imagine a grown man walking around in pink panties!!!! Mabey I should put some mascarra on behind my glasses so I can see what Im doing. Ha ha. I'll tell ya, I had to promise myself I would never ever wear them unless I, 1) had no clean undies, or 2) was going to a Cher or John Tesh concert.

An ultra sound at 5 months is the best way lol....but you can also use some old myths like if your belly is sittin glow its a boy and high is a girl...or if you are sick alot its a boy and glowing and happy its a girl.....or even if you have alot of heartburn you know they are going to have alot of hair :) Hope that helps!

i would say there is no way to tell. My first one i hardely got sick the next one i was really sick. Both Boys. No way to tell about the size of your tummy either because you'll have an unltrasound done before you get very big. The only way ot tell is an ultrasound.

You have to wait until you are between 4 and 5 months pregnant. The dr will do a sonogram on you and most of the time they can tell. I'm afraid to ask how old you are?
