Because they’re French dammit! Ain’t you been keeping up with the news? Them’s Frenchies ain’t entirely behind us and our war on terrorism and all. That’s why we changed the name of 'French Fries' to 'Freedom Fries'.

Peugeots were sold in the USA until 1992. They don't meet US standards, Peugeot does not manufacture vehicles that conform to current United States regulations. For this reason it is unfortunately impossible for anyone to import a Peugeot model into the USA . Should anybody attempt to do so, the vehicle will be blocked at the port of arrival and will not be allowed to be operated in the USA and Canada .
As of this date, Automobiles Peugeot has no plan for resuming the sales of its vehicles in the USA or Canada
My father had a Peugeot, worse car he ever had. It lasted 6 months before it started to break down. Keep in mind what the French have done historically. Do you really want a vehicle made by the folks who invented Champagne? Actually, that was Dom Perignon, a monk who invented champagne.

Peugeot Company is part of French Automakers in Europe.
All people in America liked to brought the German, Japanese, and America cars. Also they brought the Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin. All three companies are from British Company.
Peugeot stays sells in Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, and America (Mexico, etc, not USA)

The answer is most likely that there isn't a market for them. A lack of advertising, corporate franchising from France to America would impede Peugeots being sold here.
In response to someone else's answer that American's must lack something in size and are trying to make up for it by having larger everything.........Ludicrous! We have a huge country, more space to do everything.....therefore we can and have always from the inception of our country tended to like larger products of all sorts. We have the room.......the tiny countries in many areas on the globe do not have room. That is why people came here and still continue to want to migrate here.
More opportunities, and not piled on top of each other, and more space to have larger houses and vehicles. Other countries would be the same way if they had the area resources that the U.S. has in general.
If you are going to answer questions on here don't simply throw out silly answers coming from your own perceived prejudices. Thank you and have a great day.

They were sold here for years. However they were never big sellers and the added cost of meeting the US Emission and Safety standards resulted in a decision by Peugeot, Fiat, Renault, and others to export to friendlier climes like Africa and the Middle East.

Peugeot used to sell cars in the US. But they weren't very reliable and there were a lot of better options. They didn't sell much. As a result, Peugeot gave up in the 1980's.
btw, Renault, Citroen, Alfa Romeo, FIAT, Lancia all used to sell cars in the US but gave up. Mostly because they all had a reputation for falling apart.

They acually used to have a peugeot dealership in rome georgia, but it closed down several years ago....so to answer the question they probably don't sell them here because the market for them is not big enough.

Because they dont weight more than 5 tons, and their engines arent 50000000000 c.c. You see Americans want their property big, apparently they lack something else in size...
