If I've interpreted the question correctly, it depends on the player. If the player is a coachable player with a good attitude, stress can be shaken off. They need to be able to take constructive criticism. If they are playing bad, or not to the best of their abilities, they should be able to learn from errors and do better next time.

Some things, like coaches, cannot be changed. This is a negative form of stress. I recently had a coach who flat-out couldn't be pleased by anything I did. Everything I said, he contradicted, he criticized everything I did, and it wasn't long before I hated the sport. He was so negative with me that it created a mind block, and it seriously affected my play. I left that coach and and back to being the star of a different team. Everything is different, I'm playing to the top of my potential now.
