If there was a holiday just for gay people then there should be a holiday for just straight people and a holiday just for bisexual people. Get what I am saying? What we achieve has nothing to do with our sexual orientation. We are equal.

Gay people are just people. No more. No less. They deserve to be treated like anyone else. Who cares if they are gay. I think there should be a day to recognize the achievements of people. People in general.

I have to agree with Kithy, sinfully, MsladyT, and lovebug. It is not an "achievement" to be gay; they just are. If someone accomplishes something important; does it matter what nationality, color, sexual preference or sex they are? No! What matters is what they have accomplished and if it is something important we will remember their name and celebrate the achievement. A lot of people have done important works and do not have their own holiday.... Einstein... Mozart...Van Gogh...
I appreciate anyone I know that happens to be gay for the person they are.

How do you know that people who have already been recognised aren't/weren't gay? People shouldn't simply be recognised for their sexual preferences, this would be considered to be against equal opportunity laws wouldn't it? People should simply be recognised for their contributions, so what does it matter where their sexual orientation lies?
I think Elton John is a great performer, I paid $80 to go and see his concert about 10 years ago, but it wasn't because he was gay, it was because he was entertaining. I do appreciate him, because I enjoy his music - I don't care if he's gay, it's not an issue.

No. Achievements should be recognized for the act, not for the sexual orientation. Gay or straight has no bearing on what the have done.

Why are gay people much more important than anyone else, we are all the same its just that everyone is different in their own way, whoever thinks they need their own holiday need to get off their high horse and back into reality.

B/c their just people. They aren't anything special. We have National Coming Out Day. Thats enough. As much as i support letting gays do their own and make their own decisions. But they don't need any special days. And alot of people find it disturbing that 2 men, or 2 women can be together.

We have gay pride month in june. It is originated from celebrating the stonewall riot - when gay civil rights originated.
Most cities will have events and parades, also fairs and festivals.
We have coming out day in October (i think it's the 11th)
And it's not totally gay-related but we also celebrate World Aids Day, I think it is Dec 3.

I agree with Kithy. Also, we need to recognize the achievements of people that are brain dead.
