In my experience, you can't feign true knowledge. How I came to know so much about computers is truly a mystery to me. I just absorbed it over time? I read way too many tech magazines? Who knows. The truth is, most of what I know about computers I learned myself, that is, all the practical stuff. In college so far I've been learning about theory, why it works, how it works, I don't care. I know what it is, I know how to fix it if it breaks, I don't care how Windows allocates memory or how the motherboard bus(es) work, just that they do.
To be honest, I can't tell you how because I have no idea how I came by all the stuff I know.

Like someone else said...you can't know everything. So, a good way to start would be to start studying what you like about computers. In the computer world I would say 70% of computer knowlege comes from experience. You can study up on stats and features and knowledge all you want an not gain computer wisdom. I have learned from a variety of things all the way from building and fixing computers, talking to stupid computer technitions, experimenting with what works, and much more. It may be a good idea to specialize for a while in an area of knowlege and then expand from there if you are not satified. Becoming a computer guru is like chasing down the girl or guy of your dreams. She can be elusive and tricky to figure out and it takes a lot of work to develope a relationship with that person or in our case knowlege. But don't give up hardwork and flatery pay off.
the attached websites have offered me some guidance.
