its something we wont ever understand. its like they look in the mirror and see something else looking back at them thats not what the rest of the world sees. "distorted self image" They have to have intensive therapy to get past it and I think for the most part they are never over it completely. People are always the hardest on themselves

With some people it is sickness of the mind and body-when they look into the mirror they see an image of themselves that looks fat and ugly, when in fact they are not. Others-just want to be in better shape then the average person. For example-I am 5'6'' 132 pounds 24 years old. I do see myself as fat and that I need to improve on my body. But whenever i start talking about it at work with my co-workers they keep saying that I am skinny and I an fine. Well, all of them are 160 pounds and above and obviously to them I would look skinny, but compared to a normal person (a model for example) I would be fat.

It's a runaway train out of control. It started with Twiggy and has been running rampant ever since. The truth is that if you can see somone's ribs, they're probably not getting enough to eat. The key is having a balanced diet, having your weight evenly distributed, and feeling good - phyiscally and mentally. Anna Nicole Smith is beautiful no matter what her weight is, at the same time there are 110 pound women that leave much to be desired.

Some people also just like attention. I know plenty of people who say that they are fat and it is quite obvious that they are not fat. They just want to here someone tell them, 'No, you're not fat. You're beautiful.' I knew a girl that said that about her being ugly and hse was gorgeous but she just needed reassurance all the time and that was sickening. She just did it to hear it not because she actually thought that she was ugly - she's just a conceded f***ed up b****h!!!!

Because they have a mental picture of how they WANT to look but when they look in the mirror, they see otherwise. Some people say they are to get confirmation from others that they arent fat. Its a mind game

Because for some reason thin is in and some people actually believe what they see in the media. You're not beautiful unless you're a walking stick is the message. What a bunch of hogwash!!!! I personally would rather see a large woman than someone whose collarbone sticks out a mile.

I'm 5'8 and i weight 150 (160 2 weeks ago) I feel like a cow even if people tell me everyday that i look fine. well, i have my love handles and I hate them so much! plus, I'm latina and we have big hips so i cant gain weight otherwise I'll look huge!!!!
and i believe the reason i feel so fat is because i see girls with flat stomach and because my mom after having 5 babies was size 5 and me?? no babies yet and I'm a size 10!
