We have a Liitle League Umpire who really gets upset if he accidentally gets hit on the arm or leg with the baseball. He rants and raves about how the 10-12 year old catchers and pitchers are not protecting him. He has given warnings to the coach about his catcher not diving in front of a wild pitch and then he accidently gets hit. The kids feel bad but they are learning and sometimes can't help it. What can we do to get him to act more professional even though he volunteers?

Getting hit by the ball is part of the job. I ump for young kids, 12U. I wear steel toe shoes, shin guards, and a chest protector (sometimes). Tell this umpire that if he can't take it, he shouldn't ump. The league should be notified too. Also, the league should do more to encourage and train more umpires.

is this team component of the good "Little League" business enterprise? is this a submit-season journey or regular season interest? If its no longer good LL, then i can not help you. maximum self sustaining leagues don't have many regulations approximately rosters so if the instructor comes to a decision he's bored with your son lacking prepare he can kick him off the team and there is not any recourse different than perhaps soliciting for a reimbursement of participant expenses. If that's good LL and its a submit-season journey such because of the fact the All-famous person journey, then there are actually not any regulations approximately minimum enjoying time. The rulebook demands each participant to play 6 protective outs and a million plate visual appeal each and each regular SEASON interest, yet in view that submit-season is an advantage that many gamers don't get to take part in in any respect, there is not any rule approximately minimum enjoying time in maximum circumstances. If i became training a LL all-famous person team i might cut back any participant who would not attend prepare. you always purely get a handful of practices between the tip of standard season and the start of the journey so if gamers are lacking it heavily impacts your skill to coach for journey video games.

He's in the wrong line of work. I used to be a soccer ref and learned quickly it was a good idea to wear a cup; you learn to be tough quickly.

If he's that prissy about being hit by 12 year olds' fastballs, he should go sell hot dogs and let a real ump do the job.

what a weenie!! Jeez! Crybaby... When you participate in sports you take your lumps, learn to protect yourself, or get your lardacious butt outta the way.

A ten year old does not have the motor skill coordination of an adult. What a jerk.
