"Whether I think GOOD about me or BAD about me, i still always think about ME!!" Do you agree that it is human instinct to always be focused on self -- whether good or bad?

Yes, it is good to be self-centered especially when you haven't seen the world properly. Going out of your way to help others even when you are aware that it is of no consequence to you is the best way to peace. When you are occupied (including sitting while thinking) all the time, your mind doesn't have the time to think about any mischief.

Also, when some comment is good for you, accept it gracefully (it surprises me that most people don't know HOW to do this). Its a boost to your confidence. When some comment puts you in a negative light, take feedback from others to see if the commenter is right. In ancient Indian philosophical works, it is stated that one should keep his or her critic nearby at all times, since it is the critic who point's out your mistakes. However, for people who point out false flaws in you or your work, just turn a deaf ear to them. Finally, why do you think I am 'wasting' my time here answering other peoples' questions whom I don't know?

Yes it is the human instinct to focus on oneself, and have some degree of ego.It can be good and bad.If your ego is controlled by you then it is good.If your ego takes over your thinking pattern then it is bad.

well yes and no. u have to focus on self up to a point because there are others around u and u have to be considerate of their feelings and actions as well. i have children and i cant focus on self 100% of the time i have them to look after and to bring up in this cruel world to be honest and loving human beings. so my answer is yes and NO.

Well, first let me talk about me for a bit! :P

Yes of course we are all slightly egotistical people, it's human nature, it's just a bad thing when the ONLY person you think of is yourself!

I know you're not like that though, I can tell you're a good person. :)

Yes, because that is the one thing you can actually operate. THat is the one thing you decide how to use. You have to decide your own behavior every minute. You are the only thing you have to control.
