I am straight, but I am just wondering, why is everyone so worked up about stopping gay marriages? Before you spew some "God didn't want it that way" crap, tell me who it REALLY hurts and why it REALLY affects you so much that you want it stopped? It's not like you have to attend their weddings!

I don't think gay marriage weakens the idea of a real marriage.... I'd say the celebrities who get 15 divorces in their lifetime are weakening it!

It amazes me that people are so hung up on gay marriage. The "God didn't want it that way" crap holds no water, according to the Bible we should not kill, slavery is a good thing, adulterers should be put to death and women have no place in church leadership.........where is the logic to any of it?? I'm straight but I believe gays are treated in today's society is no better than African-Americans in Mississippi in the 1950/60's. I really think it all boils down to fear and ignorance.

...conservatives are concerned about changing society (how much it's changed in the last say 50 years) - what's wrong with legal status civil unions, rather than society having to change the nature of marriage.. We forget the past.. since evolution claims God is dead and life is but an anomaly.. but many still believe life is more and society is more stable and safe when the building block is traditional faithful marriage.. in Sweden where they legalized gay marriage, they are now considering group marriage.. which will likely end up as less marriage altogether.. and look what less marriage and more free love has done for society thus far.. But God is the one who gave 'free-will' so I say, keep marrriage, and add full legal status for "civil unions" (but to have such an opinion is to sometimes be portrayed as hating gay folks.. not so..)

i don't understand the "big problem" either, if two people are in love and want to express this by exchanging vows, rings, etc..they should be allowed.

How in the world does "a gay marriage" weaken marriage, people(men and women) get married for the "wrong" reasons, to the "wrong" people everyday, and end up divorcing for every reason.

I have known couples who were together for years, and still together, and are unable to be listed on each other's insurance, or unable to make any decisions regarding their partners healthcare because they are not the "spouse".

Christians will be blamed because the legalization of gay marriage gained't make all people satisfied. Make no mistake, the bill of Rights is lower than attack by ability of the elected officials who want to abolish the rights of the hardship-loose guy so one can income ability, funds, and status. Politicians want to be multi-billionaires who in straightforward words get elected so one can get wealthy in place of work one way or yet another. Politicians want to be the only contributors of the better type.

The main problem is that Jesus "sort of" condemned it, but you will be surprised why both Jesus, Hitler and Christians condemn it.
Two men cannot have a baby boy who will grow up and be a soldier, and kill the politicians "make believe" threats, so they can start a war and the military arms contractors can offer bribes to corrupt politicians for contracts.
Politicians are very paranoid. They get nervous and fantacize that everyone will become gay if they open the door. No soldiers.

I think the issue people have with it is that the idea of marriage, or even the text book definition is a union between a MAN and a WOMAN. If the goverment starts letting gay people get married, other married people will start to feel threatened and maybe less strongly about their marriage?

so what exactly happened to separation of power? separation between church and Government? at this point it's all about not taking chances and risking getting the bible belt voters against the party! and this after the church has had to settle so MANY harassment cases! the hypocrisy is overwhelming! let priests get married! let gay couples get married, who cares who you are married too? shouldn't the logic be if people are happy the world will be a better place?

That's all it is. Their god does not approve, so therefore they don't. Not a bad thing, but to say it attacks "straight" people's marriages is being dishonest, imo.

It's wrong and disgusting. And God doesn't like it, it offends Him. And if you're straight why do you care? Oh yeah, No one's born gay, they choose to be gay.
